Sports photography is among the most challenging category under ideal lighting conditions.  But it is especially difficult to shoot indoor sports like basketball, volleyball, or gymnastics, where the action moves fast and the lighting is dark.  Depending upon the lighting conditions, you might have to choose between slightly (1)  grainy, i.e. a high ISO/film speed, or (2) blurry, i.e. a slower shutter speed.  But the dramatic thrill of victory and agony of defeat always lead to wonderful, memorable photos.
